The Red Bull Arena in Leipzig has an official seating capacity of 47,069, with RB Leipzig having an average attendance of over 44,000. However, for international matches, the Leipzig Stadium holds just shy of 43,000 due to standing restrictions.

Out of the ten venues picked for the 2024 European Championship, the arena in Leipzig will have the smallest capacity. Nevertheless, the atmosphere will be as electric as the other nine.  

The Olympiastadion in Berlin and the Allianz Arena in Munich will both hold over 70,000, while Borussia Dortmund’s Westfalenstadion will have a 65,000 capacity for the finals. Stadiums in Stuttgart, Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, and Cologne will also be used in the 2024 Euro Cup. 

In the previous stadium, 110,000 fans packed in to watch a game between East Germany and Czechoslovakia in 1957, and there was a 100,000 crowd present for a fixture between SC Rotation Leipzig and Lokomotiv Leipzig a year earlier. 

Germany have also used the venue several times over the years. When the German national team last used the Leipzig Stadium, there was a crowd of 40,000 present. Unfortunately, the locals saw their team fall to a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Hungary in the Nations League.  

European Championship 2024 Matches to be Held in Leipzig
